Embedded Firmware/Software Engineer (ROM Drivers)

About the role

NXP is looking for an Embedded Firmware/Software Engineer in Noida to develop HAL and peripheral device drivers for the MCX, Crossover RT and i.MX families of devices (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, etc.) in standalone bare-metal, ROM and RTOS environments. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, well-documented and tested code for customer reference, and on supporting customers and resolving system-level issues with global teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop ROM code and device drivers for MCX, Crossover RT and i.MX devices in bare-metal, ROM and RTOS environments.
• Deliver high-quality, well-documented and tested code for customers' reference and use.
• Verify ROM code and other software deliverables on pre-silicon test and debug environments such as RTL and emulation platforms.
• Support key customers and analyze, investigate and resolve system-level issues with other teams globally.
• Work across teams covering the SoC, marketing, systems architects, verification and validation, documentation and software leads.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience.
• BS/MS degree in EE or Computer Engineering with an embedded software focus, or equivalent experience.
• Some intern/co-op experience in a related field.
• Mentoring is provided by senior members of the system ROM team with over 10 years of experience in ROM development and architecture.

Required skills

• Familiarity with embedded software development, including device drivers and consumer embedded applications.
• Preferred: Flash, SPI, I2C, USB, UART, CAN.
• Preferred: ARM and RISC-V architectures.
• Preferred: GCC, GNU make, ARM compilers such as IAR, Keil and DS-5.
• Preferred: Atlassian tools such as JIRA and Bitbucket.
• Preferred: logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
