About the role

As the Director of Engineering at Truecaller, you will lead a department to drive technical excellence, shape product development, and ensure delivery of high‑quality services. You will partner with product teams to balance rapid feature innovation with sustainable engineering practices.

Key responsibilities

• Set technical direction and act as the primary technical authority for the department.
• Shift engineering focus from merely shipping features to delivering measurable business outcomes, defining and tracking KPIs with product managers.
• Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging exploration of new ideas and technologies.
• Stay informed on emerging technological trends and assess their impact on the business.
• Collaborate with product, design, and cross‑functional teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.
• Oversee the full engineering lifecycle: project inception, resource allocation, development, testing, and deployment.
• Maintain high standards for code quality, maintainability, and scalability.
• Build and nurture a high‑performing engineering culture, providing mentorship, performance feedback, and career development.
