Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

About the role

The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will join Pearson’s agile delivery team in Bengaluru/Chennai, working three days a week on‑site. The role blends hands‑on functional and exploratory testing with the development of automated QA solutions, and partners with product, development and stakeholder teams to embed quality throughout the software lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Execute functional, regression, integration and user‑acceptance testing across web and API products.
• Collaborate with developers and product owners during backlog refinement to ensure testable acceptance criteria.
• Identify gaps in existing testing practices and help define consistent QA processes, standards and documentation.
• Design, develop and maintain automated test scripts, test data and reusable test assets using tools such as Selenium, Cucumber and Postman.
• Support test‑management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, JIRA) to improve visibility, traceability and reporting of quality metrics.
• Participate in daily stand‑ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives to champion continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field with 2‑4 years of software testing experience.
• Proven ability to lead a small team of QA engineers and drive QA initiatives.
• Strong understanding of agile delivery frameworks, Scrum processes and QA methodologies.
• Experience establishing structured QA processes, frameworks or standards and working with test‑management tools such as Azure DevOps or JIRA.

Required skills

• Familiarity with test automation frameworks and scripting (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cucumber).
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and their impact on quality assurance.
• Knowledge of Pearson Psychometric products is a plus.
