Director, Global Process Owner – Lease Accounting

About the role

McDonalds is seeking a senior finance leader to own and drive the global lease accounting function. The role combines strategic oversight, process standardisation and hands‑on leadership of a small team to ensure accurate lease classification, income recognition and expense accounting across all markets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead McDonalds' lease accounting operations, guaranteeing compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
• Act as Global Process Owner, documenting, maintaining and continuously improving the end‑to‑end lease accounting process.
• Support Market Finance teams with franchisee business reviews and financial health assessments.
• Deliver timely, accurate financial data and analysis to enable informed decision‑making across regions.
• Identify and implement process optimisation opportunities in lease accounting and field finance services.
• Champion a unified reporting approach using enterprise reporting tools to ensure consistency across markets.
• Manage a team of three direct reports, providing coaching, strategic direction and fostering a high‑performance culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Professional certification such as CPA, CMA or local equivalent (preferred).
• 10+ years of progressive experience in lease accounting, financial reporting or related functions.
• Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).
• Proven ability to deliver data‑driven financial analysis and support stakeholders.
• Experience managing teams, third‑party providers and driving continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Background in a matrixed, multinational organisation.
