About the role

The Digital Portfolio Steering Specialist will support and continuously improve portfolio steering processes for Business Applications and IT Services. This role ensures effective intake, prioritization, planning, and governance of initiatives across the organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Support demand management by collecting, clarifying, qualifying, and structuring incoming initiatives and service requests.
  • Facilitate prioritization discussions with business and IT stakeholders, providing input on value, risk, architecture fit, capacity, and financial constraints.
  • Maintain an integrated portfolio roadmap, coordinate dependencies, and align with strategic objectives.
  • Contribute to portfolio financials, budget planning, monitoring, and cost transparency.
  • Define and track portfolio KPIs (value, delivery, quality, cost, risk) and prepare management reporting for governance bodies.
  • Ensure service performance transparency by aligning with service owners on SLAs and lifecycle improvements.
  • Act as an interface between business, architecture, security/compliance, and delivery teams to support end‑to‑end alignment.
  • Prepare and moderate portfolio governance meetings and follow up on decisions and actions.
  • Establish and maintain portfolio standards, status models, reporting, and data models.
  • Identify portfolio risks early, coordinate mitigation, and support compliance topics.
  • Contribute to target operating model discussions and implement agreed improvements.
  • Drive continuous improvement and automation in portfolio reporting and support a data‑driven decision culture.

Required profile

  • Completed university degree in Business Administration, Business Informatics, Industrial Engineering or a comparable field.
  • Several years of experience in IT portfolio management, demand management, or IT service/product management.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to moderate discussions, handle conflicts, and drive decisions.
  • Very good command of written and spoken English; German is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of business applications, IT services, basic architecture concepts, IT security/compliance, and application & service lifecycle management.
