Diagnostics Software Engineer

About the role

As a core member of the Platform software team, you will help build diagnostic software that validates high‑speed digital designs and improves manufacturing yield for Arista’s data‑center networking products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and test production‑grade diagnostics for high‑speed digital boards and ASICs to support hardware validation.
• Develop manufacturing tests to validate mass‑production of digital boards used in data‑center networking products.
• Bring‑up newly manufactured boards, load the first level of software, and perform root‑cause analysis of failures.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, contract manufacturers and customers to triage issues and improve yield.
• Write system software in C and scripting languages (Python, Bash) for Linux‑based appliances and maintain version‑controlled code.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong background in C/C++ development and embedded programming on Linux/Unix platforms.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl or TCL.
• Solid understanding of computer networking (OSI layers, TCP/IP) and high‑speed interfaces (PCIe, I2C, XAUI, 10 GbE, FPGA, switch chips).
• Experience with hardware validation, ASIC bring‑up, and diagnostic software development.
