Design Quality Engineer (Charger)

About the role

Exponent Energy is looking for a Design Quality Engineer for its charger product line within New Product Development in Bengaluru. The engineer owns design-stage quality, ensuring architectural and component-level decisions meet performance, safety and reliability requirements before manufacturing. The company's flexible energy stack includes the e^pack (battery pack) and e^pump (charging station), enabling 15-minute rapid charging.

Key responsibilities

• Lead DFMEA for charger hardware and subsystems across development stages, review component selection and system architecture against specification intent, and identify design-stage failure modes with mitigation plans.
• Own the design verification plan (DVP) definition and define acceptance criteria and quality checkpoints for design validation testing.
• Review test reports, coordinate closure of design-related non-conformances, and support environmental, safety and performance validation.
• Analyse field and system-level issues traced to design or component decisions, author Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) documentation for post-launch service diagnosis, and drive design improvements from field failure trends.
• Interface with hardware, firmware and process quality teams, and take part in design and gate reviews as the quality voice.

Required profile

• B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics or a related engineering field.
• 3-6 years of experience in design quality or product development quality engineering.
• Strong understanding of DFMEA, DVP&R and design-for-reliability principles.
• Preferred: prior experience in EV charging, power electronics or automotive electronics products, exposure to fault tree analysis and service diagnostics documentation, and familiarity with EV charging standards such as IEC 61851.
