Design Lead – Solar (Electrical AC)

About the role

As Design Lead (Electrical – AC) you will be responsible for reviewing and executing engineering activities for solar PV power plants, including AC single‑line diagrams, building and earthing layouts, cable sizing, transformer sizing and LT/HT breaker selection. You will also lead the development of BIM 3D models and coordinate with civil, structural, instrumentation, MEP and other disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engineering drawings and documents on schedule, ensuring alignment with the project plan.
• Review and approve designs, calculations and vendor deliverables, obtaining client approvals where required.
• Estimate man‑hours, plan resources and manage a team of design engineers and draughtspersons.
• Coordinate inter‑departmental checks with civil, structural, mechanical and instrumentation teams.
• Provide technical support to the site execution team during commissioning and warranty periods.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• 7–10 years of experience in design of Solar PV power plants or power distribution projects.
• Strong knowledge of equipment layouts, national and international codes, and contract technical requirements.

Required skills

• AC single‑line diagram (SLD) preparation.
• Building, earthing and cable routing layout design.
• Cable sizing, transformer sizing and LT/HT breaker selection.
• BIM 3D modelling for solar plants.
• Proficiency with Dialux and MS Office.
