Design Automation Trainee (Mechanical)

About the role

Hitech, a provider of engineering, BIM and business process solutions, is hiring Graduate Trainee Engineers in Mechanical Design Automation within its Engineering Design division. The position is full-time and office-based, based in either Ahmedabad or Chennai. It suits mechanical engineering graduates who want hands-on experience with AutoCAD and related design software, working on furniture models and designs that match market trends, cost efficiency and manufacturing feasibility.

Key responsibilities

• Create and modify 2D/3D models and drawings using SolidWorks
• Work on basic design tasks and support ongoing projects
• Learn and apply programming to automate repetitive design work
• Assist in developing simple automation tools or macros
• Maintain design standards and documentation
• Work closely with the team to ensure quality and accuracy

Required profile

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
• Good understanding of engineering drawing concepts
• Basic problem-solving and logical thinking skills
• Exposure to programming through projects
• Basic knowledge of design automation concepts

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of SolidWorks (3D modelling, assembly, drawing)
• Certification in SolidWorks or any CAD software
• Knowledge of a programming language such as Python, C++, C# or VBA
