Data Engineer

About the role

AlphaSense is building an enterprise AI governance function and needs a Data Engineer to create the data layer that provides traceable, trustworthy metrics for AI risk, compliance and board reporting. You will work closely with AI security analysts, automation engineers and enterprise data teams to deliver reliable governance data.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain the analytical data model and pipelines that transform raw AI governance data into trusted metrics.
• Implement automated data quality checks, freshness monitoring and end‑to‑end lineage to ensure every figure can be traced back to its source.
• Reconcile the AI System Registry with the AI Bill‑of‑Materials, resolve conflicts and generate exception reports.
• Define and own the set of metrics, KPIs and KRIs that measure AI risk coverage, control effectiveness and remediation velocity.
• Analyze control monitoring results, detect drift and produce executive dashboards for the CISO, AI Governance Council and board.
• Provide the data foundation for AI cyber‑risk quantification and audit evidence required for ISO 42001 and EU AI Act compliance.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering or BI engineering, preferably supporting security, risk or audit functions.
• Strong SQL skills, including window functions, complex joins and performance tuning at scale.
• Proficiency in Python (pandas or equivalent) for data transformation and analysis.
• Experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT design and dimensional modeling concepts.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift or Databricks.
• Familiarity with version control and CI/CD for analytics code (Git, dbt, GitHub Actions).
• Ability to work with imperfect, multi‑source data and make judgement calls on reconciliation and reporting.
• Excellent written and visual communication to explain metrics to senior stakeholders.
