Data Engineer

About the role

Join NOV’s data team to design, develop, and maintain a high‑performance data ecosystem that powers real‑time insights for condition‑based maintenance, drilling optimization, and operational efficiency in the energy sector. You will collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and operational experts to turn business needs into scalable technical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimise scalable data pipelines for both batch and streaming workloads.
• Create reliable ETL/ELT processes for structured and unstructured data from rigs, sensors, and enterprise systems.
• Implement data quality checks and monitor data integrity across all pipelines.
• Apply DevOps best practices to automate CI/CD, testing, and deployment of data workflows.
• Partner with drilling engineers, reliability experts, and data scientists to integrate equipment data into predictive maintenance models.
• Identify technology risks and propose solutions to ensure data availability in mission‑critical systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Data Engineering (Mechanical Engineering minor is a plus).
• 4+ years of hands‑on development experience with Python, PySpark or similar languages.
• Strong knowledge of data modelling techniques such as normalization, dimensional modelling, and entity‑relationship design.
• Experience designing data pipelines in cloud and hybrid environments (e.g., Databricks, SQL Server, Data Lakes, distributed systems, SQL/NoSQL databases).
