Damper Yoke – Lead Engineer

About the role
The Damper Yoke Lead Engineer will own end‑to‑end delivery of damper yoke, clevis and mounting interface components throughout the product development lifecycle. This senior role involves concept definition, detailed design, validation, supplier coordination and launch support for automotive suspension systems.
Key responsibilities
- Define architecture, targets, load cases and requirements cascade for damper yoke and mounting interfaces.
- Lead design strategy and integration across damper, knuckle, control arm, spring module, bushings, fasteners and vehicle package interfaces.
- Drive packaging feasibility across full suspension travel, steering envelope, wheel envelope, brake clearance and serviceability.
- Conduct DFMEA, DVP&R, design reviews, tolerance stack‑up reviews and release readiness for damper yoke components.
- Define validation strategy for strength, durability, fatigue, stiffness, corrosion, abuse loading and vehicle‑level robustness.
- Provide supplier technical leadership: RFQ support, specification creation, drawing reviews, issue closure and APQP/PPAP readiness.
- Lead root‑cause analysis for cracks, deformation, durability failures, NVH issues and fastener loosening.
- Manage program risks, maturity, gateway deliverables, change control and design release timing.
- Mentor engineers, review work packages and guide CAD/CAE activities to meet project milestones.
Required profile
- B.E./B.Tech/M.E. in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering or equivalent.
- 10–15+ years of automotive chassis/suspension product development experience.
- Strong understanding of suspension load paths, damper mounting interfaces, brackets, yokes, clevis design and structural durability.
- Proven experience leading suppliers and cross‑functional teams across design, CAE, testing, manufacturing, quality and program management.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes for forged, cast, machined, stamped, welded or fabricated suspension components.
- Familiarity with hybrid/HEV vehicle platforms is a plus.

- PLM: Teamcenter or ENOVIA (or equivalent)
- Quality tools: DFMEA, DVP&R, 8D/5‑Why, APQP, PPAP
