Functional Safety Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Functional Safety Engineer to join our Cabin and Chassis team within MAN Truck & Bus India. The role is based in Pune with a hybrid working policy and involves supporting the development of EV powertrain systems under ISO 26262.

Key responsibilities

• Apply functional safety standards ISO 26262 (Parts 2‑6) to EV powertrain projects.
• Perform safety analyses such as FTA, FMEA and FMEDA and document results.
• Support system requirement engineering and contribute to safety concept development.
• Review hardware specifications from suppliers and suggest improvements in architecture, design and diagnostics.
• Collaborate with international teams and be available for up to three months of travel.

Required profile

• 4‑6 years of hands‑on experience with functional safety ISO 26262.
• Good knowledge of system requirement engineering and safety analysis methods.
• Familiarity with project/issue management tools such as JIRA (preferred).
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally for extended periods.

Required skills

• ISO 26262 Parts 2‑6, ASIL decomposition, freedom from interference.
• Safety analysis tools: Reliability Workbench for FTA, MS Project, MS Visio.
• Domain knowledge in EV powertrain.
• Basic knowledge of ISO 26262 Part 6 and reliability engineering.
• Optional: ISO 26262 Level 1 certification.
