Cybersecurity Operations Manager

About the role

Skylo is building a world‑first satellite‑to‑device connectivity platform and needs a senior leader to create and run its Cyber Fusion Center. You will stand up the Security Operations Center (SOC) from the ground up, shaping tooling, processes, and a 24/7 monitoring team that protects the satellite network, ground infrastructure, and enterprise systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lead the SOC function, including staffing model, shift coverage, escalation processes, and runbooks for 24/7 monitoring.
• Own the SIEM/EDR/XDR stack (deployment, tuning, use‑case development, detection engineering).
• Lead incident response across cloud, corporate IT, data‑center and product environments, delivering triage, containment, root‑cause analysis and post‑incident reports.
• Establish a Cyber Threat Intelligence capability, curate threat feeds, and translate intelligence into proactive detection content and threat‑hunting hypotheses.
• Report SOC metrics (MTTD, MTTR, alert fidelity) and risk posture to senior leadership and support compliance evidence for ISO 27001, NIS2 and related frameworks.

Required profile

• 8+ years in security operations/incident response, with at least 2 years leading a SOC or security team.
• Hands‑on experience building or significantly maturing a SOC in a scaling or green‑field environment.
• Proven ability to design 24/7 or follow‑the‑sun coverage models and mentor analysts as the team grows.
• Strong stakeholder communication skills, comfortable presenting risk and incident status to executives.

Required skills

• Deep familiarity with SIEM/EDR/XDR platforms such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne.
• Expertise in MITRE ATT&CK, FiGHT, D3FEND frameworks and IOC analysis.
• Experience with SOAR automation and threat‑intelligence integration.
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks ISO 27001, NIS2, SOC 2 for detection and response controls.
