Credit Control Officer

About the role

We are seeking a diligent and proactive Credit Control Officer to manage student debt recovery. The role involves making professional outbound calls to students with overdue accounts, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the finance team in reducing bad debts.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct courteous outbound calls to students, explain account status, payment options, and consequences of non‑payment.
• Negotiate and agree on feasible payment plans, ensuring timely follow‑up on agreed terms.
• Maintain detailed records of conversations, commitments and follow‑up actions in the CRM or student database.
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Finance and Executive teams to develop and monitor a credit control system that improves recovery efficiency.
• Prepare regular reports on outstanding debts, recovery progress and risk trends for management review.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree (or currently pursuing postgraduate studies) from a reputable university.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in record‑keeping and follow‑ups.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and organizational skills, with the ability to handle sensitive conversations empathetically.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced, target‑driven environment and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proactive attitude, self‑motivation and willingness to travel locally or nationally as required.
