Connector Validation Engineer (CoC)

About the role

The Connector Validation Engineer (CoC) will own the validation domain for connector products, ensuring they meet safety, reliability and customer specifications. This role combines hands‑on testing, root‑cause analysis and cross‑functional leadership across global sites.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute validation plans covering mechanical, electrical and environmental tests for new products, change requests and field issue replication.
• Lead root‑cause investigations using SEM, micro‑sectioning, FEA correlation and other diagnostic tools.
• Manage internal test‑lab capabilities, equipment selection and advanced measurement systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and validation teams, and act as technical coach across global locations.
• Drive cross‑functional design reviews and implement Design for Reliability (DfR) principles.
• Maintain testing protocols, DVP&R documents and SOPs, and liaise with customers, certification bodies and external labs.

Required profile

• Expert‑level knowledge of connector technologies, design failure modes and reliability risks.
• Deep understanding of global testing standards such as USCAR, IEC, ISO and JOEM.
• Advanced analytical skills (FMEA, 8D, RCA, fish‑bone) and experience with lab management and test‑automation tools.
• Proven leadership in cross‑functional and cross‑regional engineering teams.
• Strong documentation, report writing and stakeholder communication abilities.

Required skills

• LabVIEW / TestStand for test automation.
• Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and micro‑sectioning techniques.
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) correlation for validation.
• Environmental chamber operation (thermal shock, humidity, vibration, IP testing).
• MS Project and MS Office for project management.
• Connector mechanical and electrical testing equipment (contact resistance, dielectric withstand, insertion force).
