About the role
The Commis II supports the culinary team at Courtyard by Marriott Chennai by preparing ingredients, cooking simple dishes, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment. This full‑time position is ideal for individuals with a passion for food service and a desire to grow within the hospitality industry.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients: portion, chop, wash, peel, weigh, measure and mix according to recipes.
- Cook and assemble dishes, ensuring quality, presentation and temperature standards.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely.
- Monitor food quality, conduct taste tests and adjust cooking times as needed.
- Set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and maintain sanitation of all surfaces, tools and equipment.
- Follow company safety, security and hygiene policies, reporting any hazards or incidents.
Required profile
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- At least 1 year of related kitchen or food‑service experience.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend and lift objects up to 25 lb for an entire shift.
- No supervisory experience required.
Required skills
- Operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
- Food preparation and portioning.
- Food safety and hygiene compliance.
