Chartered Accountant – Tax Assessments, Appeals & Litigation

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Chartered Accountant to lead tax assessment, appeal and litigation matters for a diverse portfolio of clients. The role involves direct interaction with the Income Tax Department, managing complex disputes and providing strategic tax advice.

Key responsibilities

• Manage tax assessments, respond to notices and supervise junior staff on less complex cases.
• Handle the full litigation cycle: draft appeals, prepare submissions, appear before assessing officers, CIT(A) and higher authorities such as ITAT.
• Coordinate with external counsel when required and execute case‑resolution strategies.
• Provide tax planning and dispute‑resolution advisory, staying current on law changes and jurisprudence.
• Maintain a client portfolio across manufacturing, services and technology sectors, ensuring proactive communication and timely updates.
• Prepare and archive detailed records of assessments, audit reports, appeal proceedings and litigation outcomes in compliance with regulations.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification with 5‑7 years post‑qualification experience in tax assessments, appeals and litigation.
• Strong knowledge of Indian Income‑Tax Act and related regulations.
• Proven ability to analyse complex tax issues, devise strategies and deliver practical solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and authority representation.

Required skills

• In‑depth understanding of the Indian Income‑Tax Act.
• Expertise in tax litigation procedures and appeal drafting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience using tax‑related software tools.
