Catering Assistant – Part‑time (Weekends) at Vale of Leven Hospital

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a part‑time Catering Assistant to work at Vale of Leven Hospital on weekends. You will help deliver high‑quality food services to patients, staff and visitors, ensuring meals are prepared, plated and served safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Support the delivery of catering services to patients, staff, visitors and hospital functions.
• Regenerate patient meals centrally or at ward level and plate meals as directed by nursing staff.
• Clean and wash all catering equipment, machinery and crockery.
• Assist food production staff with basic meal preparation and pick‑and‑pack patient meal components.
• Maintain compliance with Food Hygiene Regulations and HACCP procedures.
• Uphold high personal hygiene standards and follow health‑and‑safety guidelines.
• Report faulty equipment promptly.
• Operate the cash register at point of service and handle cash transactions.

Required profile

• Knowledge of catering services (training will be provided for new starters).
• Flexible approach to daily routine and ability to work Saturdays and Sundays.
• Willingness to wear protective clothing and complete HACCP paperwork.
• Ability to follow health‑and‑safety, manual‑handling and fire‑safety training.

Required skills

• Operation of a Burlodge Regen Oven.
• Dishwasher operation.
• Cash register handling.
• Completion of HACCP documentation.
