Casual Cook – Stoneridge Manor

About the role

The Cook at Stoneridge Manor will prepare and deliver meals for residents, guests, and staff in a long‑term care environment. Reporting to the Director of Culinary Services or Nutrition Manager, this part‑time position focuses on safe food handling, menu execution, and support for therapeutic diets.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve all meals for residents, guests, and employees according to menus and production sheets.
• Follow proper food‑handling techniques and complete daily temperature audits for refrigeration units.
• Prepare foods for therapeutic and specialty diets, making documented menu substitutions as needed.
• Adhere to scheduled meal times, standardized recipes, and budget constraints.
• Comply with provincial/municipal regulations, dietary policies, and health‑safety legislation.
• Participate in special‑occasion and themed meal planning.
• Attend staff meetings, in‑services, and training sessions.
• Uphold resident rights, quality‑improvement initiatives, and the organization’s code of conduct.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Current Food Handler's Certificate (Red Seal preferred).
• Experience in large‑quantity food preparation, preferably in healthcare or retirement settings.
• Knowledge of Provincial Food Premises Regulation and Canada’s Food Guide.
• Familiarity with special and therapeutic diets.
• Physical ability to lift heavy, hot items and stand for most of the shift.
• Willingness to provide a recent Vulnerable Sector Check.
