Cashier (Bank Branch)

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch of Ujjivan. The role ensures that cash handling follows internal and external banking guidelines, maintains accurate registers, and completes end‑of‑day reconciliation in the system.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments, issuing acknowledgements as required.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans, updating the system accordingly.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and record entries in the system.
• Maintain inward/outward cash registers, petty‑cash register, assets register and submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare the End‑of‑Day branch report and ensure vault operations in coordination with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers during deposits and withdrawals, identify cross‑sell opportunities and educate them on new products and alternate channels.
• Count and verify cash at the start and end of the day, safeguard cash, keys and valuables in joint custody with the Assistant Branch Manager.
• Ensure compliance with transaction turnaround times, bank policies and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling and record‑keeping.
• Excellent customer service orientation with the ability to address queries and escalations promptly.
• Ability to work collaboratively with branch staff and adhere to compliance and security procedures.
• Reliability in managing cash, vault operations and meeting defined turnaround times.
