Buyer – Procurement Team

About the role

The Buyer will join the Procurement Team at NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital, supporting the delivery of high‑quality patient care through effective purchasing, contract management and supplier engagement. You will work closely with clinical and non‑clinical departments, suppliers and key stakeholders to ensure timely procurement of goods, services and maintenance contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Raise purchase orders from approved requisitions, ensuring accuracy and best value.
• Source goods and services when supplier information is not readily available.
• Analyse product usage to identify cost‑saving and efficiency opportunities.
• Negotiate with suppliers to secure best value for goods, services and contract renewals.
• Provide guidance to customers on procurement best practice.
• Manage supplier relationships and monitor performance against service levels.
• Resolve invoice queries promptly with suppliers.
• Monitor and manage consignment stock in line with agreements.
• Support the Procurement Team Manager and senior colleagues with procurement activities.
• Handle return and replacement of unsuitable or damaged goods.
• Provide day‑to‑day support, guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
• Record savings achieved through negotiation and product rationalisation.
