Build Quality Engineer (Charger)

About the role

Exponent Energy is looking for a Build Quality Engineer to own factory-floor quality during charger prototype builds. The role sits within New Product Development, which works on the e^pack (battery pack) and e^pump (charging station) that enable 15-minute rapid charging. The engineer catches deviations early, drives root cause on build issues and certifies builds ready for testing.

Key responsibilities

• Own quality oversight during charger prototype assembly builds
• Identify and document issues as they occur, capture part and build deviations and log them for tracking
• Drive root cause analysis on build issues and provide assembly feedback to the charger design and process quality engineers
• Certify charger assemblies as ready before they proceed to testing
• Support closure of build-related non-conformances before test handoff
• Interface with design and process quality teams on recurring build issues and escalate patterns and systemic issues to the Function Lead

Required profile

• B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering
• 1-3 years of experience in prototype or manufacturing builds
• Hands-on, detail-obsessed, comfortable working daily on the factory floor
• Preferred: experience in EV charger or power electronics build environments and exposure to charger assembly processes

Required skills

• Working knowledge of deviation tracking and basic RCA tools
• Structured problem-solving and quality of work
• Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment and resilience after setbacks
