Build Quality Engineer (Battery, Product & Integration)

About the role

Exponent Energy is looking for a Build Quality Engineer to own factory-floor quality during battery, product and vehicle-integration prototype builds within its New Product Development team. The engineer catches deviations early, drives root cause on build issues and certifies builds ready for testing. The company's flexible energy stack includes the e^pack (battery pack) and e^pump (charging station).

Key responsibilities

• Own quality oversight during battery and vehicle-integration prototype assembly builds.
• Identify and document issues as they occur during assembly, capture part and build deviations and log them for tracking.
• Drive root cause analysis on prototype build issues and provide assembly feedback to design and process quality engineers.
• Certify assemblies and vehicles as ready before they proceed to testing.
• Support closure of build-related non-conformances before test handoff.
• Interface with design and process quality teams on recurring build issues and escalate patterns and systemic issues to the Function Lead.

Required profile

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in prototype or manufacturing builds.
• Hands-on, detail-oriented work on the factory floor every day.
• Preferred: experience in EV or automotive prototype build environments and exposure to both battery and vehicle assembly (vehicle preferred).

Required skills

• Working knowledge of deviation tracking and basic root cause analysis tools.
• Structured problem-solving and ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
