Branch Cashier – Banking Operations

About the role

The Branch Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and ensuring accurate end‑of‑day reconciliation in accordance with internal and external banking guidelines. Working under the Branch Operations Manager, the role supports smooth cash flow and high‑quality customer service at the branch.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other cash instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans, updating the system in real time.
• Maintain inward and outward cash registers, petty‑cash and asset registers, and forward requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare the End‑of‑Day branch report and ensure vault operations are conducted jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers during deposits and withdrawals, explain repayment schedules, and promote bank products and alternate channels.
• Adhere to defined turnaround times, comply with all regulatory and bank policies, and verify authenticity of customers during cash withdrawals.
• Count and secure branch cash, keys and valuables at the start and end of each day.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow defined procedures.
• Good numerical accuracy for cash handling and reconciliation.
• Customer‑focused attitude with the ability to explain banking processes clearly.
• Willingness to work full‑time onsite in a branch environment.
