BIW Lead Engineer

About the role

The BIW Lead Engineer will head the Body-in-White subsystem team, driving design maturity from concept to engineering sign‑off for vehicle programs. This senior position requires strong leadership, cross‑functional coordination, and deep technical expertise in automotive engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Lead subsystem engineers and ensure timely delivery of all component deliverables.
• Organise and run subsystem meetings with cross‑functional representation.
• Progress design maturity through concept, development, and sign‑off stages.
• Maintain team work plan aligned with vehicle program schedules.
• Achieve cost, weight, and regulatory compliance targets.
• Define system‑level engineering targets and develop design validation plans (DVP) including in‑house and supplier testing.
• Troubleshoot validation issues and lead failure mode avoidance activities (DFMEA).
• Ensure documentation complies with ISO and quality standards.
• Support purchasing, RFQ activities, and vehicle launch/pre‑production builds.
• Apply APQP processes to manage subsystem delivery.

Required profile

• 9 to 12 years of experience in automotive engineering or related field.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience with vehicle program development and subsystem integration.
