Billing Team Lead – Global Projects

About the role

The Billing Team Lead will head a group of billing specialists supporting AECOM’s global infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Manager of Accounting, AP, AR & Other Assets, you will ensure accurate, timely, and US GAAP‑compliant billing across multiple regions while driving process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop a high‑performing billing team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Manage end‑to‑end billing operations, guaranteeing accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with US GAAP, AECOM policies and SOX controls.
• Oversee AR/AP and asset‑related account reconciliations to maintain complete and accurate financial data.
• Partner with Source‑to‑Pay and Order‑to‑Cash teams to resolve discrepancies and enhance billing accuracy.
• Support monthly close processes, ensuring proper journal entries, clearing accounts and sub‑ledger maintenance.
• Serve as primary contact for internal and external auditors, ensuring regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of general accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a global organization.
• Proven experience leading a billing or finance team with strong coaching and performance‑management abilities.
• Deep understanding of US GAAP, SOX compliance and financial controls.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills across virtual, multicultural teams.
