Bank Cashier – Branch Operations

About the role

The Bank Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. The role involves handling cheques, drafts, cash deposits and withdrawals, and maintaining accurate registers and system entries.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments, providing acknowledgements.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans, adhering to authorized limits.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty cash, assets register and submit requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tally, reconcile transactions, and prepare the End‑of‑Day branch report.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and cash custody with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, address queries, cross‑sell bank products and promote use of alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with turnaround times, banking regulations and internal policies for all cashier operations.
• Validate customer authenticity during cash withdrawals and verify deposit slips for audit purposes.
