Associate Professor - Computer Networks

About the role

Newton School of Technology (NST) in Pune is seeking a passionate PhD‑qualified Associate Professor to lead teaching and research in Computer Networks. The role combines classroom instruction, curriculum design, lab development and mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver application‑oriented courses covering Computer Networks, Network Security, Distributed Systems, Operating Systems and Cloud Fundamentals.
• Design and update curriculum, assignments, labs and assessments aligned with industry standards.
• Run lectures, labs, workshops and project‑based sessions using modern pedagogical methods.
• Develop hands‑on labs with Cisco Packet Tracer, Wireshark, Linux networking tools and cloud platforms.
• Guide students in research projects, hackathons, internships and placement activities.
• Conduct research, publish papers and represent NST at conferences and academic collaborations.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Networks, Systems Engineering, Cyber Security or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in teaching, academia, technical training or industry networking roles.
• Strong academic record with consistent performance.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of OSI and TCP/IP models, routing & switching, TCP/UDP/IP, DNS, DHCP.
• Expertise in network security protocols, firewalls, VPNs, SSL/TLS, SDN and cloud networking.
• Proficiency with Linux/Unix systems, shell scripting and network monitoring tools.
• Hands‑on experience with Cisco/Juniper devices, Wireshark, packet analysis and network simulation environments (e.g., Cisco Packet Tracer).
• Familiarity with distributed systems and cloud platforms.
