Associate Data Engineer (Data Intelligence)

About the role

Chalhoub Group's Capability Hub, its technology and innovation hub, is hiring an Associate Data Engineer in Bangalore to support its AI/ML squad. The role prepares model training datasets, runs feature engineering and assists with prompt design and API integration for the group's generative AI and machine learning models.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare model training datasets and execute feature engineering tasks under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Query, prepare and clean datasets using SQL and Python (Pandas, NumPy) in Jupyter Notebooks.
• Assist in prompt design and testing of AI agents on the enterprise GenAI platform (Alia).
• Support the build and testing of generative AI features using LLM APIs and AI tools.
• Integrate machine learning models via REST APIs.
• Run model training and evaluation experiments, record metrics and results, and assist with model monitoring by flagging performance or data quality issues.
• Document datasets, experiments and observations to support reproducibility.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers and apply engineering best practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of experience in data science, machine learning or a related technical area.
• Foundational understanding of machine learning concepts, feature engineering and model evaluation.
• Exposure to generative AI and prompt design is an advantage.

Required skills

• Working proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy) and Jupyter Notebooks.
• Working knowledge of SQL for querying and preparing data.
• Familiarity with cloud AI platforms (Azure AI, Google Vertex AI, AWS SageMaker) and REST APIs is an advantage.
• Familiarity with AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) is an advantage.
