APQP Program Quality Engineer (Charger)

About the role

Exponent Energy is looking for an APQP Program Quality Engineer to drive APQP discipline through its charger programs, ensuring every design and process quality step is genuinely validated. The role sits inside the charger program team as the process quality anchor, taking part in root cause analysis (RCA) during builds and collaborating on service Fault Tree Analysis documentation. The company works on the e^pack (battery pack) and e^pump (charging station) for 15-minute rapid charging.

Key responsibilities

• Own and track APQP gate readiness across charger programs, from POC through SOP+, and ensure DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans and DVP steps are validated before gate sign-off
• Flag skipped or shallow validation to the Function Lead before it becomes a later-stage problem
• Drive quality action items to closure and coordinate quality checkpoints across design and process quality workstreams
• Take part in RCA during builds (proto, pilot and production) using 8D and 5-Why methods, and track RCA and CAPA closure
• Build and review Fault Tree Analysis documents for service diagnosis, keeping them updated as new failure modes are learned in the field
• Ensure DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans and checklists meet IATF 16949 documentation standards, and give program-level quality status to the Function Lead and NPQ Lead

Required profile

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical or a related engineering field
• 1-3 years of experience in APQP or program quality engineering
• Strong process discipline, comfortable driving a program's quality cadence rather than just documenting it
• Preferred: prior experience in charger or power electronics programs, exposure to Fault Tree Analysis, and familiarity with 8D / 5-Why RCA
