Analyst - Impairment Reporting

About the role

Barclays is hiring an Analyst for Impairment Reporting in Gurugram, India, within its Finance team. The role evaluates and assesses the potential impairment of financial assets so that the bank's financial statements accurately reflect the economic value of its assets. The position is permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Identify potential impairment triggers and analyse financial and non-financial information to assess the risk of impairment.
• Apply quantitative and qualitative impairment tests to determine whether an asset is impaired.
• Assess the impairment loss by choosing the right valuation method, assessing fair value and documenting the process.
• Calculate the impairment provision and prepare clear, accurate impairment disclosures for the financial statements.
• Manage impaired assets and regularly reassess their impairment status.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent; qualified accountant or MBA with an understanding of a relevant functional area such as financial reporting.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• High level of commitment and enthusiasm.
• Legal right to work in India; applicants holding a Barclays-sponsored visa or needing sponsorship must declare this.

Required skills

• Strong analytical skills and meticulous approach to data analysis and reporting.
• Proficiency in Excel, including data manipulation, transformation and reconciliation.
• Preferred: familiarity with IFRS 9 (expected credit loss), credit risk management principles, and the financial services industry.
