Airport Firefighter (ARFF Assistant)

About the role

The Airport Firefighter (ARFF Assistant) is responsible for responding to aircraft and structural fire emergencies, medical incidents, hazardous material situations, and other emergencies on airport premises. The role ensures the safety of passengers, crew, and airport personnel through effective firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical services.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to aircraft incidents, structural fires, medical emergencies, and hazardous material incidents.
• Perform fire suppression using water, foam, dry chemicals, and other agents.
• Conduct search and rescue operations in smoke‑filled or hazardous environments.
• Provide first aid and basic life support (BLS) until advanced medical personnel arrive.
• Maintain daily inspections and upkeep of firefighting vehicles, extinguishers, and personal protective equipment.
• Participate in routine emergency response simulations, ICAO‑mandated training, and fire drills.
• Maintain detailed incident reports, training records, and shift logs for regulatory audits.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and follow standard operating procedures.

Required profile

• Ability to respond to aircraft, structural fire, medical, and hazardous material emergencies on airport property.
• Physical fitness and capability to work in smoke‑filled, high‑stress environments.
• Commitment to maintaining operational readiness and regulatory compliance.

Required skills

• Firefighting techniques using water, foam, and dry chemicals.
• Search and rescue operations in hazardous conditions.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and first aid.
• Inspection and maintenance of firefighting vehicles, extinguishers, and PPE.
• Knowledge of ICAO fire safety standards and emergency response protocols.
