AI Platform Engineer

About the role

Barclays is hiring an AI Platform Engineer in Bengaluru and Pune, within its Chief Technology Office. The role designs, develops and improves software that delivers business, platform and technology capabilities to customers and colleagues, using various engineering methodologies. The contract is permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned languages, frameworks and tools, keeping code scalable, maintainable and performance-optimized
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and other engineers to define requirements, devise solution strategies and align with business objectives
• Take part in code reviews, share knowledge and stay up to date with technology trends and community contributions
• Follow secure coding practices and implement unit testing to protect sensitive data
• Lead and supervise a team, guide professional development, allocate work and coordinate resources, or act as a technical advisor depending on the position

Required profile

• 3+ years of software engineering experience on cloud platforms
• Hands-on GenAI/LLM work: calling LLM APIs, prompt building, RAG patterns and embeddings
• An Agentic AI framework (LangGraph/LangChain or Google ADK) and basic Docker/Kubernetes
• Ability to handle risk and controls, change and transformation, and business acumen
• Legal right to work in the role; sponsorship may be needed

Required skills

• Cloud software engineering (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Python preferred, or Java/Go with REST APIs, async frameworks and clean, testable code
• Preferred: observability (OpenTelemetry, structured logging, distributed tracing), OPA/Rego, IaC (CloudFormation/Terraform) and GitOps
• Preferred: AI safety concepts such as prompt injection risks, PII handling and content filtering
