Welder – Mining Operations

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Welder to join Epiroc’s mining operations at Zawar Mines in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The successful candidate will support production by delivering high‑quality welds on a variety of steel components used in mining equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform welding using SMAW, GMAW/MIG and TIG processes according to approved Welding Procedure Specifications.
• Operate gas‑cutting equipment and prepare materials by marking, cutting and edge preparation.
• Conduct equipment pre‑checks, set‑up welding machines, regulators, hoses and consumables, and ensure safe shutdown after work.
• Inspect welds visually for defects such as porosity, cracks or lack of fusion and document findings.
• Follow hot‑work permits, fire‑hazard controls and proper storage of O₂ and fuel‑gas cylinders.
• Collaborate with supervisors, riggers and safety teams to maintain a safe work environment.

Required profile

• Understanding of basic metallurgy and heat‑affected zones.
• Ability to work in varied postures, including overhead and underground locations.
• Good hand‑eye coordination and basic mathematical skills for measurements.
• Commitment to safety procedures and ability to conduct hazard identification before work.

Required skills

• SMAW, GMAW/MIG and TIG welding techniques.
• Gas‑cutting operation and knowledge of oxygen‑fuel characteristics.
• Interpretation of welding symbols, drawings and tolerances.
• Operation and adjustment of welding machines, transformers and inverters.
• Use of measuring tools such as tape, vernier caliper and angle gauge.
• Visual weld inspection and familiarity with ISO/ASME quality standards.
