Test Automation Engineer (M/F/D)

About the role

BASF Digital Hub Hyderabad is looking for a Test Automation Engineer to join the Operational EHS Platform and Integration team. The team develops an internal platform used globally at BASF production facilities, focusing on the modernization of legacy systems and new digital capabilities in the operational EHS domain. You will work alongside a global development team to build and iteratively improve a global, internal full-stack solution for occupational safety, using an open-source stack and a cloud-based platform.

Key responsibilities

• Develop programs that test the accuracy and reliability of internally developed software for each module, initially and on an ongoing basis, especially before major updates and deployments.
• Drive automation coverage and quality for your modules, prioritizing maintainability and reducing flaky tests.
• Collaborate with the Operational EHS Solutions team to define test cases and ensure testing is comprehensive and accurate.
• Give feedback to the full-stack developer team and recommend corrective approaches for issues found during testing.
• Own the test approach for your assigned modules, aligned with the globally defined strategy.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics, Business Informatics or a comparable field.
• More than 5 years as a QA automator for a large team, and more than 5 years as a manual QA tester for a large team.
• Solid understanding of QA methodologies and the ability to predict common user workflows to design effective tests.

Required skills

• Programming skills in JavaScript.
• UI/API test automation using frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium or similar, with design patterns.
• Manual testing and exploratory testing.
• Test design, performance testing and configuration management.
• Nice to have: ISTQB certification, load testing tools (Locust, JMeter), DevOps tool knowledge, agile Scrum experience, and independent learning and coaching.
