About the role
The Supplier Quality Inspector ensures that components and materials supplied to the company meet strict quality, engineering, and customer requirements, with a focus on oil & gas field equipment. The role involves performing in‑process and final inspections, validating corrective actions, and supporting continuous supplier quality improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Perform 100% in‑process and final inspections of supplier products using calibrated measuring tools and approved methods.
- Conduct dimensional, visual, hardness, and Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections on oil & gas components and assemblies.
- Inspect threads according to API 5B, API 7‑1, API 7‑2, and premium connection standards.
- Apply oil & gas field inspection techniques for downhole tools, tubulars, and connection products.
- Document and report findings and non‑conformities to suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Verify the effectiveness of supplier Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective/Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Support Supplier Quality Engineers in resolving supplier‑related issues and monitoring corrective actions.
- Partner with suppliers to drive first‑time‑right performance and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure compliance with QMS, HSE, and industry standards.
Required profile
- ITI or Diploma in a relevant technical discipline.
- 5‑7 years of experience in supplier quality inspection, quality inspection, or manufacturing quality within the oil & gas industry.
- Hands‑on experience inspecting oil & gas components, tubulars, downhole tools, and connection products.
- Ability to work independently and manage inspection priorities at supplier locations.
Required skills
- Dimensional, visual, hardness, and NDT inspection techniques.
- Knowledge of API thread standards (API 5B, API 7‑1, API 7‑2) and premium connections (WFT, VAM, Tenaris, JFE).
- Interpretation of engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T.
- Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, hardness testers.
- Understanding of RCA, CAPA, and non‑conformance management.
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and HSE requirements.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Working knowledge of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) – preferred.
