Steward – Operador de Lavagem e Higiene de Cozinha

About the role

The Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen environment, ensuring that all utensils, equipment, and surfaces meet safety standards. This role supports food preparation areas by performing pre‑wash, washing, and detailed sanitation tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Execute pre‑wash and wash cycles for utensils, equipment, and dishes following hygiene and safety procedures.
• Clean and organize daily kitchen areas, including floors, worktops, trash bins, and stoves using appropriate cleaning products.
• Perform weekly/monthly deep cleaning of walls, ovens, hoods, shelves, refrigerators, freezers, cold rooms, ceilings, and lighting fixtures.
• Dispose of kitchen and dining area waste on a daily basis.
• Operate dishwashing machines and set up buffet stations, including ice placement.
• Carry out detailed equipment sanitation according to checklists.
• Maintain orderly storage of kitchen and restaurant utensils.
• Protect equipment, utensils, dishes, and personal protective equipment (PPE) used daily.
• Follow food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Keep waste storage areas organized and use cleaning products correctly with proper dilutions.

Required profile

• Minimum education: incomplete elementary school.
• At least 3 months of relevant experience.
• Attention to detail, cooperation, focus on quality and productivity, and good interpersonal relationships.

Required skills

• Dishwashing machine operation.
• Basic steward techniques (course completed).
• Fundamental knowledge of food hygiene and safety (course completed).
• Advanced hygiene procedures (course completed).
