Steward – Kitchen Cleaning & Hygiene Specialist

About the role

The Steward ensures the kitchen environment remains clean, organized, and compliant with hygiene and safety standards. This position supports food preparation areas by handling dishwashing, surface sanitation, and waste management on a daily basis.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre‑wash and wash cycles for utensils, equipment, and dishes following operational hygiene procedures.
• Maintain daily cleanliness of kitchen areas, including floors, countertops, trash bins, and cooking stations using appropriate cleaning agents.
• Execute weekly or monthly deep‑cleaning of walls, ovens, hoods, shelves, refrigerators, freezers, and lighting fixtures.
• Operate dishwashing machines and ensure proper loading and unloading.
• Dispose of kitchen and cafeteria waste responsibly each day.
• Prepare buffet setups, manage ice supplies, and keep storage areas orderly.
• Conduct detailed equipment sanitation according to check‑lists.
• Safeguard all tools, utensils, and personal protective equipment (PPE) used during shifts.
• Follow food safety and occupational health regulations at all times.

Required profile

• Incomplete elementary education (minimum requirement).
• At least 3 months of experience in a similar steward or kitchen cleaning role.
• Behavioral traits: attention to detail, cooperation, focus on quality and productivity, good interpersonal relations.
• Completed basic steward training and basic food hygiene and safety courses; advanced hygiene course is a plus.
• Preferably prior experience as a steward for HTIC or similar hospitality establishments.
