Staff Nurse – Recovery Department (12‑month secondment)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated, multi‑skilled Registered Nurse to join the Recovery Department at Borders General Hospital on a 12‑month secondment. The role is based in the peri‑operative environment and offers a fast‑paced, patient‑centred setting where you will support patients in the immediate post‑operative period.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective care to patients during the immediate post‑operative phase.
• Adapt to a busy, constantly changing environment and support out‑of‑hours service needs.
• Contribute to the education, training and development of nursing colleagues.
• Participate in staff appraisals, clinical development and continuous quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Current NHS Scotland employee (internal vacancy only).
• Registered Nurse with Band 5 level.
• Valid EPP (Exposure Prone Procedure) clearance.
• Willingness to undergo updated criminal records checks and PVG scheme registration if required.
