About the role
The Postcard Hotel in Udupi is seeking a full‑time Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in delivering high‑quality, locally inspired cuisine. This on‑site position offers the chance to work in a boutique, luxury hospitality environment where creativity and attention to detail are paramount.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth food preparation and cooking.
- Oversee plating, presentation, and adherence to hygiene, safety, and quality standards.
- Train, mentor, and motivate kitchen team members.
- Monitor inventory, place orders for supplies, and manage stock levels.
- Collaborate with the service team to create memorable dining experiences.
- Contribute to menu development, seasonal specials, and guest‑specific requests.
Required profile
- Strong culinary expertise in both hot and cold kitchen production.
- Experience in menu execution, plating, and presentation.
- Proficiency in kitchen operations, staff supervision, scheduling, and service coordination.
- Solid knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations, and sanitation best practices.
- Ability to work with local ingredients and craft regionally inspired dishes.
- Formal culinary education or equivalent professional training; food‑safety certifications are a plus.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays with a guest‑centric mindset.
