Software Quality Engineering Manager

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an experienced Software Quality Engineering (SQE) / SDET Manager to lead quality strategy, test automation, and product qualification efforts. The role blends hands‑on technical work with people management, driving high‑quality, reliable software for semiconductor and display equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of QA Engineers, SDETs, and Qualification Engineers, providing technical guidance and performance coaching.
• Define and execute the overall quality engineering, test automation, and qualification strategy across functional, integration, system, regression, and end‑to‑end testing.
• Develop scalable test automation frameworks and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
• Monitor quality metrics, drive defect‑prevention initiatives, and ensure release readiness.
• Identify productivity improvements through automation, tooling, and AI/GenAI‑assisted testing solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in software quality assurance, qualification, or SDET roles.
• 2‑3 years of experience managing QA/SDET/Qualification teams.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.

Required skills

• Automation tools: Selenium, Playwright, TestNG.
• CI/CD platforms: Azure DevOps, Jenkins.
• Testing types: API, integration, system, regression, end‑to‑end.
• Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Familiarity with cloud‑native technologies, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Exposure to AI/GenAI‑based testing solutions.
