Software Engineering Manager

About the role

NetApp is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a growing engineering team within its Research and Development function. The team focuses on delivering innovative technologies that meet enterprise-class product quality and time-to-market needs. You will lead a blended team of Software Developers and QA Engineers, working with Product Managers, Program Managers, Technical Architects and Support organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and support of projects solving customers' big data challenges.
• Manage the growth and development of team members.
• Recruit, mentor and develop engineers, focusing on rewards, recognition and growth.
• Support products in customer deployments and manage products deployed with enterprise customers, ensuring quality and timely delivery of incremental features.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science.
• Minimum of 12 years of overall experience, including at least 3 years as a first-line manager driving DEV and QA teams.
• Track record of developing enterprise products in a product-based organisation; knowledge of data storage is a must.
• Practical experience in people management, project execution, crisis management and consistent prioritisation.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Required skills

• Programming languages Go, C# and Python.
• Kubernetes, Docker containers and file/block protocols; hypervisors such as VMware, KVM and Hyper-V.
• CI/CD pipelines and tools (a plus).
• OpenStack/OpenShift knowledge is a bonus.
• Proficiency with AI tools for automation and documentation (a plus).
