Software Engineer - Train IT Rolling Stock System

About the role

Siemens is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Passenger Information System (PIS) team, focusing on train IT rolling stock solutions. You will design, develop, and maintain real‑time passenger information applications that improve the travel experience across multiple transport modes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java‑based applications for passenger information systems.
• Upgrade the existing Java 8 platform to newer Java versions.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure high code quality.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.
• Apply Agile practices: daily stand‑ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and task prioritisation.
• Collaborate with global teams and support occasional travel (10‑20%).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• 2‑4 years of professional Java development experience.
• Experience with SIP protocol, GStreamer and distributed systems.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent English communication skills.
