Software Engineer II, Infrastructure

About the role

Google Ads is seeking a Software Engineer II to join its Infrastructure team. In this role you will contribute to the development of large‑scale systems that power advertising products used by billions of users worldwide. You will work on challenging problems across the full stack, from low‑level hardware interactions to high‑level service design.

Key responsibilities

• Write, test, and deploy production‑ready code for Google Ads infrastructure.
• Review peer code to ensure adherence to style guidelines, testability, and performance standards.
• Maintain and improve documentation and educational content for internal and external users.
• Triage, debug, and resolve system issues, analyzing impacts on hardware, network, and service quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 1 year of programming experience in C++, Java, Go, or Python.
• Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or related field, and experience building infrastructure, distributed systems, or working with compute, storage, or hardware architecture.
• Experience developing accessible technologies is a plus.
