Software Engineer – Design Thinking & UX

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer who will build user‑focused applications using Cisco’s Design Thinking principles. The role emphasizes simplification, secure coding, and a strong user experience while collaborating closely with design, product, and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop software that follows secure coding practices and protects user privacy.
• Partner with design and product management to create solutions that meet customer needs.
• Produce technical design documentation and contribute to end‑user documentation.
• Debug and resolve issues during development and in production environments.
• Introduce innovative ideas to improve products and development processes.
• Lead small‑to‑medium features from design through delivery and may lead low‑complexity projects.
• Participate in code reviews, write clean, testable code, and ensure scalability and reliability.
• Provide on‑call support, conduct post‑mortems, and write root‑cause analyses.

Required profile

• Experienced professional with a degree (Bachelors + 5 years or Masters + 3 years) in a related field.
• Works independently while receiving guidance from leadership.
• Acts as a resource for less‑experienced colleagues and mentors peers or interns.
• Builds productive relationships across teams and communicates project specifications clearly.
• Stays current on industry trends and agile engineering practices.
