Software Engineer (C++ / Systems Programming / Unix)

About the role

NetApp is looking for a software engineer in Bangalore to contribute to the design, development and testing of storage domain features. The role spans the full product lifecycle, from requirement definition and implementation to debugging, testing and early customer support. The engineer works on new features, sustenance and engineering escalations, collaborates with cross-functional teams and delivers customer-centric solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and test storage domain features across the full product lifecycle
• Work on new feature development, feature sustenance and engineering escalations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical leadership when required
• Operate independently with minimal supervision

Required profile

• 5 to 8 years of experience in the architecture, design and development of system software
• Bachelor's degree, or 3 years of experience with a Master's or PhD, or equivalent work experience
• Proven record of meeting tight deadlines without sacrificing quality
• Strong communication skills, written and oral, for internal and external audiences
• Understanding of customer deployment scenarios and experience working with non-engineering teams

Required skills

• C, C++ and Python, with debugging using GDB
• In-depth knowledge of Unix/Linux system programming and multithreaded programming
• Strong algorithms, data structures and multithreading expertise
• Sound software engineering practices and a focus on quality
• Storage domain experience; virtualization experience is a plus
• Strong conceptual understanding of OS internals
