Software Engineer (APIs, Backend & Data Platforms)

About the role

NetApp is looking for a Software Engineer in Bangalore to lead the design and delivery of scalable APIs, backend services and data platforms for enterprise software. The role provides hands-on technical direction while advancing AI-first engineering, automation, quality, reliability and operational excellence across the software lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Own technical delivery, architecture and engineering standards across services, APIs and data systems.
• Design and build production systems using Go and Python, with REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Work with PostgreSQL, Redis and ClickHouse, or comparable transactional, caching and analytics technologies.
• Apply data lakehouse concepts across ingestion, data modelling, governance and analytics pipelines.
• Build scalable, secure, observable and production-ready systems using ELK, Grafana and modern CI/CD and testing practices.
• Improve reliability, performance, capacity, cost efficiency, incident response and root-cause prevention.
• Champion responsible AI-assisted development, testing, observability, operations and intelligent automation.
• Partner with Product and cross-functional stakeholders, providing technical guidance, coaching and clear communication.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related technical field.
• Typically a minimum of 8 years of related experience (IC level).
• Strong system design, distributed systems, problem-solving, code quality and end-to-end technical ownership.
