Shift Engineer (Mechanical)

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Shift Engineer to ensure the reliable, safe and efficient operation of our hydro‑power generating units and associated plant systems. The role supports the shift in‑charge in meeting statutory, environmental and technical requirements while achieving generation targets.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure reliable, safe and efficient operation of all generating units, auxiliaries and balance‑of‑plant systems.
• Support shift in‑charge in compliance with statutory HSS, environmental and technical regulations (CEA, CERC, DSA, SCEI, AP/CPCB, Cybersecurity).
• Manage Permit to Work (PTW) issuance and closure, verify isolations and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Prepare and revise generation schedules (day‑ahead, intraday) and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Liaise with SLDC/RLDC, CTU, STU, DISCOMs, TSO for day‑to‑day plant operations.
• Assign work tasks to shift engineers/technicians to maintain optimal plant performance.
• Compile and maintain daily, monthly, quarterly and annual plant operation reports and checklists.
• Support PPA compliance, DSM management and settlements.
• Implement and update Integrated Management System (IMS) documentation for the assigned area.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of operation & maintenance experience in the hydro‑power generation sector.
