About the role

The City of Cambridge is seeking a Sewer Maintenance Worker II to ensure the reliable operation of its sewer infrastructure, including storm drains, force mains, lift stations, and manholes. This hands‑on position involves routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance in an outdoor, physically demanding environment.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, and maintain sewer systems, storm drains, force mains, lift stations, and manholes.
• Perform pipe repairs and installations, clean and flush mains, and isolate breaks.
• Operate construction equipment such as jackhammers and hydraulic tools.
• Landscape work sites and keep them safe and organized.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Required profile

• High School diploma or GED.
• At least four years of experience in sewer maintenance or a related field.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to regularly lift 50‑75 lb and work in outdoor conditions with noise and hazards.
